About
CDA is brought to you by mOBiNurses Inc. -
a nonprofit with an aim to reduce the maternal and infant mortality rates among vulnerable populations by providing exceptional doula services to the community FREE OF CHARGE.
The Community Doula Academy (CDA) was founded with a simple but powerful mission: to prepare compassionate, knowledgeable, and culturally responsive doulas who are equipped to serve families with excellence while helping transform maternal and infant health outcomes in their communities.
Our Story
The Community Doula Academy (CDA) was founded with the belief that every family deserves compassionate, informed, and culturally responsive support throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Recognizing the need for more well-trained community doulas, we created an academy that equips birth workers with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills to make a meaningful impact.

Our programs blend evidence-based education with hands-on learning, advocacy, and community-centered care. More than a training program, CDA is a community of passionate professionals committed to improving maternal and infant health, reducing disparities, and empowering families one birth at a time.

At the Community Doula Academy, we're not just training doulas—we're cultivating leaders, advocates, and changemakers who are dedicated to transforming the future of maternal care.
The Process:
3
Stepping Into Service
Phase 3 celebrates students’ growth, dedication, and readiness to serve their communities. Graduates will complete mentorship, final evaluations, reflect on their journey, receive recognition for their accomplishments, and transition into their role as trained Community Doulas.
This phase marks the beginning of their commitment to supporting families, advancing birth equity, and strengthening maternal and infant health within the community.
2
Putting Knowledge Into Practice
Phase 2 bridges the gap between learning and practice. Students will participate in hands-on training, skill-building activities, simulations, and real-world birth support experiences with a mOBiMentor.
Through guided practice and mentorship, students will gain confidence in comfort measures, communication techniques, client advocacy, emotional support, and providing culturally responsive care to families during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

Building the Foundation
In Phase 1, students will develop the foundational knowledge and skills needed to become compassionate, competent community doulas. Through interactive lessons, discussions, and reflective activities, students will explore birth physiology, perinatal health, advocacy, cultural humility, trauma-informed care, professional boundaries, and the essential role of the doula throughout the childbearing journey.
